Dr Alain Vonlaufen

Career

Originally from the city of Lucerne, Dr Alain Vonlaufen completed his medical studies in Geneva. He did his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at Hôpital Cantonal de Fribourg and at the Geneva and Lausanne University Hospitals. He received his post-graduate degree in Gastroenterology from the Swiss Medical Association in 2005 and a doctorate (PhD) from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia in 2009. Upon returning to Europe, he furthered his training in endoscopic ultrasound and interventional endoscopic techniques with Dr Marc Giovannini at the Paoli-Calmettes Institute in Marseille. From 2012 to 2015, he practised as a gastroenterologist at Hôpital de la Tour . He is an associate and co-founder of GGHA with Dr Berj Armenian. Dr Vonlaufen performs routine gastroenterology examinations (gastroscopy, colonoscopy, anoscopy, abdominal ultrasound) with a particular focus on upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopic ultrasound and pancreatic disease.
